Creating Abstracts on Yupo using Found Objects, Cat Litter, and String -- Julia Cline, instructor

About the Workshop: Have fun creating abstract watercolors on Yupo, a synthetic, waterproof “paper.” We’ll use found objects, cut-up credit cards, string, and sewing thread to direct the flow of color and water on the smooth surface of the yupo. We’ll use absorptive substances like cat litter and repellant substances like alcohol to create texture.

When: On Saturday, April 15, the workshop will begin and 10AM and end at 2PM, with an option for participants to return after a break and continue to work on their projects until 4PM.

Location: The Arts and Crafts room in Cribari Center at the Villages (5000 Cribari Lane, San Jose, 95135)

Fee: Cost of the workshop is $85, all materials are included. Members of East Valley Artists and the Villages Arts and Crafts Association will receive a $10 discount ($85 - $10 = $75). (Materials include at least 2 sheets of yupo (16 x 20 and 11 x 14) and the use of sealer, liquid watercolors in spray bottles (everyone will have a set to use), found objects, string, cat litter, alcohol, tissues, paper towels, gravel, backing boards for yupo, etc.)

To sign up: Contact Julia Cline and specify that you are interested in the Yupo workshop at the Villages. You must sign up in advance. COVID vaccination is required, as are masks. The Arts and Crafts room is well-ventilated.
