PARTHENIA HICKS

“This jewelry portrait of Georgia O’Keeffe shows her enfolded under a great Owl’s wing. My hope is that all of our greatest artists are somehow protected by the animal kingdom. Starting with paper images, the pendant underwent 5 rounds of resin over a period of three weeks, building on the image to form a concrete piece. After that, I added in the cobalt Swarovski crystals, one at a time by hand. The cobalt blue chain repeats the crystal colors. Its deep yet high energy seemed like just the right vibration for both the Owl and Georgia. The back of the pendant is the original backside of the Owl image, serendipitously a plea for protection of our animal creatures.”
